This firm, fixed price contract was to rebuild the crumbling masonry walls of the northeast bastion and latrine wall and repair drainage defects in a 200+ year old fort, at Fort Washington, a National Historic Landmark. This project consisted of the careful preservation, dismantling, salvage, cleaning and restoration, and reinstallation of historic masonry at the Bastion and Latrine Walls of Fort Washington. The Fort Washington Park remained in operation during the entire construction period.The work under this contract required special attention to the scheduling and conduct of the work in connection with existing operations. Furthermore, the contract required working near two existing buildings which were occupied and part of a Park Exhibit. The closest building to our site was the building in which gunpowder and charges were kept for cannon demonstrations. The existing building and its contents were kept secure at all times by providing temporary, securable, closures at all construction access points as required to maintain security as directed by the COR..
